Our Mission

To evangelize people who have life controlling problems, and to initiate the discipleship process to the point where the student can function as a Christian in Society, apply spiritually motivated Biblical principals to relationships in the family, local church, chosen vocation and the community.  Teen Challenge endeavors to help people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well and spiritually alive.

Teen Challenge of the Midwest - Alton

Who we are:

       Teen Challenge of the Midwest - Alton is a Christian ministry for men ages 18 and older with life controlling issues such as drugs, alcohol, self-discipline, victims of abuse, dysfunctional families,  etc.  Those deciding that they are serious about change in their lives make a personal commitment to come and live in our residential program for a period of twelve or more months.

What we do:

       We reach out to those who need help.  The individual seeking help is received into the program and brought into a consistent schedule of Bible studies, prayer, work, and fellowship.  The Teen Challenge approach is to teach a whole new way of living by addressing family relationships, work attitudes, self-image and esteem, peer pressure, addictions, social issues, community relationships, and a variety of other life skills.

       The salvation offered by Jesus Christ is the main avenue to create true and lasting changes in a person's life.  Teaching students about Christ and leading them to salvation is essential to the work of Teen Challenge.

Our affiliations:

       We are affiliated with Teen Challenge of the Midwest.  An organization that includes Teen Challenge of Neosho, Mo, which is our intake/crisis center.  We are also accredited by Teen Challenge USA, Inc.

How Teen Challenge Began:

      The ministry of Teen Challenge was born in 1958 in the heart of David Wilkerson, a young Assemblies of God Minister.  He was moved to action when he witnessed the devastating effects of delinquency and drugs on teenagers in New York City.

Where we are:

       Alton, Kansas is located in Osborne, [OB], County on Highway 24 between Osborne and Stockton, in north central Kansas.  From Hays, Kansas, take 183 north to Stockton and then Highway 24 east.  It's in the valley of the south Solomon River and the bluffs a mile or so south of town offer great photographic opportunities.
